A Hangover-Free Galifianakis

October 1, 2010

Working at an independent film theater definitely has its perks. I get to watch the films for free, be “in the know” about what’s coming out and, sometimes, I get free stuff. Who doesn’t love free stuff?

So, the hype right now is on the upcoming film “It’s Kind of a Funny Story” starring Zach Galifianakis and Keir Gilchrist.

In a nutshell, the “Funny Story” is about a clinically depressed teenager who gets a new start after he checks himself into an adult psychiatric ward. I would hate to give you too much information and ruin it for you, but it looks like a quirky youth love story if I’ve ever seen one.

I’m interested to see how Galifianakis’ character differs from his popular role in “The Hangover.” I wonder if he’ll be the empty-minded stooge he was in the comedic film, or if he’ll take on more inspirational role in his newest project. Here’s a trailer for the film, maybe we can gain some insight….

The film will be showing in select theaters Oct. 8, and has been compared to the film “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” a 1975 film starring Jack Nicholson.

So, check it out and see for yourself! Show times can be found here: http://movies.nytimes.com/movie/446795/It-s-Kind-of-a-Funny-Story/showtimes

Happy viewing! And remember, sometimes it’s just cheaper to sneak your own snacks into the theater.
